Abstract

Abstract: Cultural creativity refers to the human ability to create, translate, and convey ideas as a dynamic force in driving innovation and social change. In the era of technology 5.0, almost 75% of social life activities depend on technology, including in cultural preservation and transformation. This study examines the role of the younger generation in maintaining and promoting Gayo culture, an important subculture in Central Aceh through education and digital empowerment. The Gayo culture, which is rich in art (didong, guel dance), traditional fabrics (Kefiling Gayo), and language (Gayo), currently faces the challenges of progress and a lack of renewal of cultural understanding. Using the qualitative approach and information network theory of Manuel Castells, data was obtained through online interviews by sharing questionnaires, and online documentation studies in the form of photos and videos. The results of this study show that the young generation of Gayo is able to utilize technology as a creative instrument in preserving and promoting Gayo culture. Their contribution is not only limited to the digital realm, but also is present in the community through various activities, such as cultural carnivals. These findings confirm that the digital creativity of the younger generation is an important key in maintaining the existence of Gayo culture so that it remains relevant and known globally.   Keywords: Gayo culture; young people's creativity; technology; cultural preservation; education; Community Empowerment
