Abstrak

Gout Arthritis is one of the degenerative diseases that is often suffered by the elderly. This type of disease attacks the joint area. In general, Arthritis is interpreted as joint inflammation and Gout means uric acid. Gout arthritis is a metabolic disorder due to the accumulation of monosodium urate in the joints which is characterized by increased uric acid levels exceeding 7.0 mg/dl in men and 6.0 mg/dl in women. This case study aims to explain Family Nursing Care by Providing Warm Compresses of Boiled Ginger Water to Reduce Acute Pain in Gout Patients in Lam Neuhun Village, Kuta Baro, Aceh Besar. The design of this case study is a case study with a nursing process approach. The results of the case study found three acute pains related to the disease suffered, readiness to improve health management d.d desire to manage health problems and their prevention and a nursing diagnosis of knowledge deficit about gout related to lack of exposure to information. The nursing action given was the provision of warm compresses of boiled ginger water to reduce pain in gout patients. The results of the evaluation of the knowledge deficit diagnosis showed that the client already understood about gout, the results of the diagnosis of acute pain were obtained with intervention using warm compresses of boiled ginger water in reducing pain from a scale of 6 to a scale of 3 for 4 days and the results of the diagnosis of readiness to improve health management showed that the client already knew about the gout diet. Recommendations for patients suffering from gout are expected to provide motivation and encouragement to the elderly to utilize non-pharmacological therapy such as providing warm compress therapy with boiled ginger water in overcoming pain caused by gout and are carried out regularly, so that the program continues according to the follow-up plan, namely the intervention of providing warm compress therapy with boiled ginger water.
