Abstract

This study investigates the correlation between students’ reading habits and their translation skills, focusing on eighth-semester English Education students at Abulyatama University. A quantitative correlational approach was used, involving 13 students through a census sampling technique. Data were collected using a questionnaire adapted from Prasetyo (2016) and a translation test involving a journal abstract. Findings revealed a Pearson correlation coefficient of r = 0.631, indicating a positive correlation. However, this value fell slightly below the critical r-table value (0.632), leading to the conclusion that the relationship is not statistically significant. The coefficient of determination (R² = 39.69%) suggests that nearly 40% of students' translation skills can be explained by their reading habits, while the remaining variation is attributed to other factors. The study highlights the importance of improving reading consistency and exploring other elements that contribute to translation ability.
